Preparing a podcast and audio sample

Podcasts should be planned and have an agenda to ensure the message has a specific targeted audience. Today is a fast paced society and everyone wants their information fast. Not planning or having a scripted agenda can cause your podcast to ramble, run off topic, or end at an undesired time. It's important to get your message across and cut the excess information that is not needed.
Below is a podcast script I created for unit 8 and 9 as well as link.

"
Hello fellow college students, welcome to Michael’s podcast on understanding the economy of words when dealing with social media as well as understanding our presence to the world by utilizing these social media tools.
Understanding what the term economy of words is to understand effective communication. The first thing to consider is who you are communicating with your targeting audience. For example, the words you would use to communicate to adults are not the same ones you would communicate to children. You want your audience to understand and connect with you, so learning to adjust your usage of words is important.
How does the economy of words play a part in this? Well it’s easy, if you first understand your audience, you should know what information they are looking for. Focus on that, and cut the excess. In essence, if the economy of words was used in a food analogy, I would tell you to serve the steak and cut the excess fat from it. People want the meat. Get your message across with as little words as possible without leaving out the important details that complete the message. Let me give you an example, using the following sentence.
In order to ensure there are enough parking spaces for students, all vehicles must be registered or FAU will tow your vehicle are your expense.
A shorter version relaying the same message would be;
All vehicles parked at FAU without a parking decal will be towed.
Understanding this information can help you in the social media digital world, especially as a college student and/or worker. Microblogs only allow 140 characters or less, so your message has to be attractive, appealing, and informative all with a short amount of words. This is when the economy of words has its most importance, similar to a subject line of an article.
You as a person, to the business world, are looked at as a product. Everything you say and do is a reflection of you. Saying too much or saying too little can hurt you. College students, both working and not working, need to utilize today’s instruments and learn how to network and connect with others. You can never have too many friends and connections. It’s a tough economy out there, so staying connected, even if you are already working, is important because you never know what the future may have in store. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are various free social networks that you can utilize to accomplish all that I have discussed previously. Feel free to connect with me on my blog at http://padronkaplan.blogspot.com/ or my Twitter account, @MikePadron1.
Thank you for listening I look forward to connecting with you soon."

Microblogging 101

Microblogging, such as on Twitter, will only allow you to type 140 characters or less. One of the challenges, is figuring out the right amount of words to fit in that limited space to convey a message that is attractive and provides enough information to the target audience. You have to connect, with as much information as possible, with as few words as possible. A benefit of microblogging is being able to analyze the feedback and responses you get from your target audience. It can help a business understand it's target audience's opinions and views to better make future business decisions. It is a way for a person or business to connect with others, and vise versa. It is also a very effective way to share and help promote information is a relatively fast pace, and for free (as a virtual form of word of mouth).

I have used microblogging to express to companies I deal with, my satisfaction with them, or my dissatisfaction with them. Most companies have a public relations team that analyzes their social networks and blogs and will response to customers as a way to better understand their issues and correct them or promote satisfied customer's feedback that cost the company $0 for marketing. I have shared or retweeted certain posts from others to help them promote an advertisement, a message, or a funny microblog. I am not a HUGE blogger or Twitter user, but I do monitor certain people's account to get quick realtime updates such as NFL football analyst and insider information. I also follow some of my favorite athletes, if they are an entertaining individual. Some people believe they are more important than they really are, and share too much information too often, as if people really care about every detail of their life.

Be grateful

Be grateful for everything you have, even if it is only a little bit. Someone, somewhere, will trade places with you in a heart beat. Start looking at life as the glass half full as opposed to half empty, your life will be more fulfilled. Everyday, over 30k people die from starvation around the world. I doubt you were, are, or will be one of them. Be grateful.
