Microblogging 101

Microblogging, such as on Twitter, will only allow you to type 140 characters or less. One of the challenges, is figuring out the right amount of words to fit in that limited space to convey a message that is attractive and provides enough information to the target audience. You have to connect, with as much information as possible, with as few words as possible. A benefit of microblogging is being able to analyze the feedback and responses you get from your target audience. It can help a business understand it's target audience's opinions and views to better make future business decisions. It is a way for a person or business to connect with others, and vise versa. It is also a very effective way to share and help promote information is a relatively fast pace, and for free (as a virtual form of word of mouth).

I have used microblogging to express to companies I deal with, my satisfaction with them, or my dissatisfaction with them. Most companies have a public relations team that analyzes their social networks and blogs and will response to customers as a way to better understand their issues and correct them or promote satisfied customer's feedback that cost the company $0 for marketing. I have shared or retweeted certain posts from others to help them promote an advertisement, a message, or a funny microblog. I am not a HUGE blogger or Twitter user, but I do monitor certain people's account to get quick realtime updates such as NFL football analyst and insider information. I also follow some of my favorite athletes, if they are an entertaining individual. Some people believe they are more important than they really are, and share too much information too often, as if people really care about every detail of their life.
